"The tone and depth of a dream-garage rock sensibility...Andrew is a New Rochelle, New York originating soul, who is now doing his thing in Nashville. We think the combination is fabulous, as demonstrated in this single." - comeherefloyd

Andrew Lipow is quickly becoming one of Nashville’s most in-demand guitarists and composers. His most recent project included releasing original songs, co-written with dreampop artist Palm Ghosts, under the name Slow Motion Music in 2018.  The sound of the music, a perfect blend of electronica-influenced psychedelic rock, was released on Ice Queen Records in the US and the European Underground Art music label Ezhevika.

From 2005 until 2014, Lipow taught at the Litchfield Jazz Camp and from 2009 until 2014, he taught guitar at New York Fresh Air Fund camps for the ASCAP foundation. In 2013, he taught Classical and Commercial Composition at Belmont University.

“I am passionate about music education,” Lipow explains. “It is important to learn music, not only to gain knowledge of the craft, but ultimately to pass on that knowledge to the next generation of musicians and composers.”

Lipow is the creator of Kontakt Mastery, a video tutorial series that teaches composers the ins and outs of digital sampling. The program has amassed over 120,000 YouTube views to date.

Lipow is currently a member of the Nashville Composer’s Association. In 2019, he wrote original music for Zooz Bikes’ social media campaign. In addition to writing original songs, he also composes instrumental music for television and has written cues for the Discovery Network, TLC and CNBC (“American Greed”).

Lipow was born and raised in New Rochelle, New York, a large and diverse community just north of New York City.  When he was not in school, Andrew was either rehearsing with his rock band or studying jazz under the tutelage of some of the finest guitarists in NYC. While attending Vassar College, Lipow wrote the theme music for the WVOX 1460 AM radio show “Take on the Issues,” which is still used today.

After graduating with a degree in Music, he moved to the Netherlands to record an album of original songs, under the pseudonym, Warpold Wine.  Upon returning to the States, he spent the following years recording in studios as a session musician while obtaining a Masters of Music in Studio Composition from the Purchase College Conservatory of Music. Heavily influenced by the likes of Thomas Newman, Jonny Greenwood, Ennio Morricone, John Williams and Danny Elfman, Lipow has cultivated a sound truly unique to himself.

Andrew Lipow now lives in Nashville, Tennessee, where he performs, tours and records with some of the city’s most preeminent artists. He performs as both a live and sessions guitarist and has toured with Show-Dog Universal Music artists Krystal Keith and Lance Carpenter, as well as acclaimed Americana artists Amelia K. Spicer and Sam Morrow. In 2018, the National Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM) invited Lipow to host and moderate a round table discussion at their conference on “Blurring Genre in the City of Country Music” at Vanderbilt University.

Lipow also produced and hosted the “Musician Podcast” from 2015-2019 and is currently scoring the film “I Think He’s Right” for Nashville filmmaker Cooper Smith. You can catch Lipow performing at some of Music City’s most famous venues, such as The Stage, Layla’s, The Five Spot, Exit/In and more.
